Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between coaching and counseling?
Coaching helps clients create a vision for their future and take action to move forward. It focuses on building skills and strengths and encourages curiosity of what’s possible. Coaching is proactive looking ahead. The client is a relatively well-adjusted individual who is motivated to grow into the fullness of who they were created to be.
Counseling helps clients process emotional pain, trauma, or mental health challenges from the past that may be hindering their well-being. A counselor or therapist may look at how past experiences influence current behavior and is working toward emotional or psychological healing for the client.
What brings someone to hire a Christian Life Coach?
People hire a Christian Life Coach to grow personally and spiritually through a faith-based lens. A Christian Life Coach helps clients align their thoughts, emotions, and actions with Biblical truth, gain clarity about how to move forward, and overcome obstacles that keep them from living in the freedom and identity they have in Christ.

What does a coaching session look like with Renee Bethel?
Coaching is a supportive, confidential space where you can talk about your goals, challenges, and ideas. Each session is a special time set aside just for you where you’ll be listened to, encouraged to be curious about what’s going on inside you without judgment, and guided through an International Coaching Federation (ICF) model of discovery.
Coaching sessions are held at mutually convenient times and are conducted virtually using Zoom. You may choose to be on camera or off camera during the call. Each session will last between 45 minutes to one hour. Most clients leave a coaching session feeling heard, seen, valued, and hopeful for what’s next.
What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a personality tool that shines a light on what you may not be able to see on your own. Because the Enneagram is a non-proprietary tool, meaning no one owns it, you may see it being used and interpreted in various ways by teachers of different faiths and backgrounds. Finding Me Christian Coaching uses the tool of the Enneagram from a grace based, new covenant theology perspective.
When clients choose to use the Enneagram in their coaching sessions with Finding Me Christian Coaching, they will be guided through discovering their personality type and perspective, triggers, core motivations, communication style, conflict style, strengths and growth edges, as well as how their personality type presents through law and grace.
What might be addressed with life coaching?
Coaching sessions may include work around awareness, beliefs, boundaries, challenges, choices, clarity, creating plans, discovery, emotional regulation, expectations, exploration, goals, habits, limiting beliefs, obstacles, perspective, processing, purpose, taking action, and values. This list is not complete - each session is customized to what’s most meaningful and helpful for you.
